Born in Salzburg/Austria. Studied violin at the «Mozarteum» in Salzburg and at Musikhochschule Graz; additional studies in jazz and musicology. Lives in Vienna, where he is Principal 2nd violinist of the Volksoper Orchestra and member of Roland Neuwirth‘s «Extremschrammeln». Continuous work in the fields of improvisation, jazz and contemporary music since 1977. Co-founder of «Vögel Europas» and «Motus Quartett» (jazz string quartet). Has performed with various ensembles for contemporary music as well as with George Gruntz, James Newton, Jim Hall, Kenny Werner, Vinko Globokar, Wolfgang Mitterer, Heiner Goebbels and Tom Cora.
